NOW THE LONELINESS
I thought I heard your whisper
coming through the dark.
I thought I felt your presence,
reaching out my hand,
and when I closed my eyes,
I thought I saw your face.
Instead I lie
with loneliness;
crushed each empty night
in its cold embrace.
