FESTIVE SEASON

Here comes Christmas,
so unwrap the jollity and
take it from its box,
carefully unfold the
"Good Will to All Men"
and iron out the wrinkles
it got lying in the drawer.
Blow up the balloons,
pin up the streamers
and make sure you're smiling
when someone looks at you.

There goes Christmas.
Wrap up the jollity and
put it in its box.
"Good Will to All Men"
goes back in its drawer.
The streamers come down
(the balloons already did)
and there's no need to smile
when someone looks at you.

The Festive Season is paint
plastered on the year,
got from a pot marked
"Apply liberally to everything.
(Will quickly rub off,
leaving not a trace)."
